WINNER OF THE STAGE AWARD FOR ACTING EXCELLENCE
Force adversaries to talk and you may achieve peace.

What happens when you lock up a Celtic fan with a Rangers fan on the day of the big match?

Fireworks! That’s What!

Des Dillon delights, entertains and educates on the religious origins of Celtic-Ranger conflict.

Beneath its amusement, this award winning play explores bigotry and ethnic identity on both a microcosmic and macrocosmic scale. Through the lens of the two characters locked in a prison cell, we witness the generational repercussions of Catholic and Protestant strife.

Furthermore the play functions as a broader allegory, addressing bigotry-motivated hate across multiple communities. It extends beyond the immediate conflict, including references to the UK immigration crisis and tensions in Palestine, making it a powerful commentary on the universal nature of prejudice and division.
“The sheer vitality of the theatrical writing - the seamless combination of verbal wit and raw kinetic energy, and the pure dynamic strength of the play’s structure - makes this show feel like one of the shortest and most gripping two-hour shows in current Scottish theatre.

The Tumbling Paddies
Friday 12th December 7.30pm
One of Ireland’s most popular music acts, The Tumbling Paddies are now coming to Scotland! Song writing and original material is a major part of their success. Hit songs include Pretty Girl, Night On The Town and The Way I Am, which topped the Irish charts for 10 consecutive weeks.
Having grown from strength to strength over the past few years, it is no surprise that their music is being played in venues all over the world.
Formed in 2014 in their beloved County Fermanagh, they soon became the region’s favourite covers band. After welcoming Oisin on keyboards, the band started to write and record their own original music, gaining more and more followers.
The Tumbling Paddies soon became one of Ireland’s most prolific touring acts, playing sell-out gigs all over the country, including TF Castlebar and the INEC in Killarney. The band are now enjoying global success with recent tours in Dubai, Germany, and Spain.
With an exuberant, energy-filled, live show, The Tumbling Paddies, will perform a mix of original songs and classic Irish hits, in what promises to be an incredibly uplifting night of live music.

About
The Barrfields Theatre in Largs is one of Scotland's most significant entertainment venues, the last fully operational seaside pavilion theatre in Scotland.
First opened in 1930, designed by architect William Barclay, the theatre was built as a popular variety theatre and concert hall (originally 1003 seats) and throughout most of the twentieth century, well into the 1970s was the home of one of Britain's most respected summer variety seasons.
Over the years, top names such as Billy Connolly, Marti Pellow, Rikki Fulton, Stanley Baxter, Frankie Vaughan, Chic Murray, Jimmy Logan, Elaine C Smith have all headlned shows at Barrfields...even Kylie Minogue made an appearance for a BBC recording at one point.

We are a registered charity (SC052380), Barrfields Theatre User Group, comprised of local volunteers whose role it is to promote the theatre, book professional touring productions, and provide technical and front of house volunteers for performances.

The venue itself is managed by KA Leisure, any questions about the building and infrastructure should be directed to them.
